Venetian blinds are a classic window covering that has been around for centuries, even making an appearance in Edmund Charles Tarbell’s painting from the turn of the 18th century, “The Venetian Blind.” The Venetian style of blind had its heyday from the 1930s to the 1950s and although far more modern designs have evolved since then, Venetian blinds still make a great alternative to curtains, providing a stylish and chic look that can be easily tailored to allow various amounts of light into the room. The slats on Venetian blinds can be made from various materials with both wood and metal being popular for their aesthetic and durability. These slats are then connected with fine chords that when manipulated, allow for the slats to be opened and closed and for the blind to be pulled up or let down as the user sees fit.
